Duties Description The Motor Vehicle Operator would be assigned to the Grounds Dept. and would be the driver for garbage truck (trash pickups for uptown/downtown campuses are required 7 days/week). This Motor Vehicle Operator would also operate large dump trucks, a street sweeper, garbage and recycling trucks, and large snow plow/salter vehicles during the week as required.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Valid NYS CDL Class B driver's license required. May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators.
OPERATING NEEDS:
Valid New York State Commercial Driver's License - Class B. Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to support Campus events and snow removal is required. Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
Appointment will be contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment testing for controlled substance use as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991 (OTETA). Employment cannot commence until notification for successful completion of this pre-employment testing is received. Please note that in addition to the initial testing required by OTETA, the Act further requires that the University conduct pre-assignment (promotion), reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, follow-up and return to duty drug and alcohol testing throughout the period of employment.
