Duties Description Job Duties
The duties for the Information Technology Specialist 3 include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for administrating the PeopleSoft HR and Finance applications and servers
Manage Ivanti Patching for the Windows Server, PeopleSoft Support Team
Research and remediate any software vulnerabilities discovered that affect PeopleSoft applications and servers
Contribute to creating PeopleSoft project plans to deliver new or enhanced functionality to NYSTRS staff
Be the technical lead on PeopleSoft upgrade projects
Mentor staff resources in the maintenance and enhancement of PeopleSoft servers and applications
Produce and review technical documentation
Assist with budgeting, planning, and researching current and future applications and services that are part of the PeopleSoft and Microsoft server administration support environment
Lead PeopleSoft Administration support to evaluate, select and implement new technologies
Act as a technical leader, mentor team members and effectively communicate complex technical information
Backup Documentum functions of the MS Server support team
Ensure continued support interoperability and verify recoverability for all environments managed by the MS Server support team
Minimum Qualifications *Minimum Qualifications
Either: 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list; 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 3 (SG-23); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of the Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
*We are not utilizing NY HELPS to fill this position. To be considered for this position, you must be employed by NY State and meet the minimum qualifications as outlined above.

Position Summary
The incumbent will provide technical leadership for PeopleSoft Administration projects and operational activity needed to support PeopleSoft. The incumbent will be responsible for administering PeopleSoft Finance and HR servers and applications, PeopleSoft Windows Server patching and vulnerability management. The incumbent will be responsible for knowledge transfer to other MS server staff on PeopleSoft administration policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
Three years as a PeopleSoft System Administrator
PeopleSoft Change Assistant, Configuration Manager, Data Mover
Building PeopleSoft Servers and People Tools upgrades
PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and creating and deploying bug packages
Performing PeopleSoft code migrations between environments
Applying tax update and 1099 packages
Working with SSL Certificates
Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery
Working in a collaborative team environment
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of:
PeopleSoft Integration Broker and Process Scheduler
Windows Server Administration 2019 and above
Microsoft Active Directory Administration
Microsoft Exchange Administration 2016 and above
Microsoft O365 Tenant Administration
Microsoft IIS Web Server administration
Enterprise Patching Tools such as Ivanti
VMware vSphere Web Client 7.0 or higher
ITIL processes
Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
Ability to troubleshoot quickly and accurately diagnose issues with servers and applications
Business writing skills to correspond with both technical and business users
Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
