Duties Description • Under the direction of the Camp Director, Cultural Manager, Program Director, and/or higher-level park staff, Senior Camp Counselors are responsible for the direct supervision of assigned campers and for the supervision, guidance, and oversight of Junior Camp Counselors within their group. Senior Camp Counselors shall ensure daily activity schedules are followed, identify and communicate any operational or safety concerns, and immediately notify the Camp Director and/or Program Director of schedule changes or needed adjustments.
• Senior Camp Counselors are responsible for promptly reporting all incidents, accidents, injuries, or behavioral concerns to the Camp Director and/or Program Director and ensuring that all required Incident Report Forms are completed accurately and submitted in accordance with agency procedures.
• The Senior Camp Counselor must consistently enforce camp rules, regulations, and OPRHP policies, enforce the camp dress code, and conduct themselves in a manner consistent with agency codes of conduct and customer service standards. Senior Camp Counselors are responsible for ensuring that Junior Camp Counselors under their supervision always adhere to these standards.
• Senior Camp Counselors will interact directly with campers during daily activities. They will also provide active supervision, direction, and support to Junior Camp Counselors to ensure appropriate camper engagement, safety, and supervision.
• Senior Camp Counselors are responsible for knowing the names of all campers and counselors under their supervision, as well as being fully aware of any allergies, medical concerns, or special needs of campers within their assigned group.
• Senior Camp Counselors are required to actively participate in all swimming activities. This includes enforcing aquatic safety rules, maintaining required supervision ratios, providing immediate assistance during emergencies, and ensuring continuous monitoring in and around aquatic areas This participation is mandatory and essential for camper safety.
• Senior Camp Counselors are required to actively participate in all skating activities. Participation is mandatory to ensure direct supervision, assist campers as needed, promptly respond to falls or injuries, and enforce all skating safety rules to minimize risk of harm.
• On all camp trips Senior Camp Counselors must maintain immediate access to copies of all parent/guardian trip consent forms, swimming consent forms, and emergency contact information. Senior Camp Counselors must also ensure that counselors are following all safety and supervision protocols.
• Senior Camp Counselors will ensure that daily attendance is taken accurately and reported to the Camp Director in a timely manner. Senior Camp Counselors will continuously account for each camper’s presence throughout the day at all activities.
• Senior Camp Counselors will prepare performance evaluations for the Junior Camp Counselors within their group and submit all proposed evaluations to the Camp Director for review and approval prior to finalization.
• Senior Camp Counselors are required to follow and enforce the established chain of command and must communicate regularly and clearly with the Camp Director and Program Director regarding camper safety, staff performance, operational concerns, and program needs. Failure to adhere to the chain of command may compromise program operations and safety.
Minimum Qualifications NO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS TITLE PER CIVIL SERVICE.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Senior Camp Counselors must be at least 18 years of age.
• Senior Camp Counselors must either have experience in camping and the supervision of children or have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the permit-issuing official. Background checks will be conducted for all candidates.
• Senior Camp Counselors must produce two reference letters from friends, past employers, or individuals not related to the applicant.
• Senior Camp Counselors must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations and safety incidents during all activities. Participation in required activities is a condition of employment and necessary to meet State supervision and safety standards.
