Duties Description The incumbent of this position will report to the Cyber Incident Response Team within the Office of Counter Terrorism.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Support and participate in remote and on-site cyber security assessments for non-Executive agencies, local governments, and public authorities (our "Customers"), including cyber risk assessments, network scans, and cyber threat and vulnerability analysis.
• Engage at the leadership, middle management, and individual contributor layers of Customer organizations as appropriate to convey assessment-related analysis and recommendations.
• Conduct outreach with our customers to discuss cyber security policies, programs, and infrastructure.
• Interact with cyber security industry experts to maintain knowledge of cyber trends and techniques, with emphasis on Critical Infrastructure.
• Investigate, document and report on cyber security issues and emerging trends affecting our customers, to maintain situational awareness within the unit.
• Assist in the development of Customer-facing cyber security programs which align with industry best practices across domains such as IT asset management, configuration management, cyber security policies and procedures, data governance, access management, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, incident response and security awareness training.
• Contribute to the development and dissemination of actionable strategic and tactical cyber intelligence to Customer organizations through periodic or ad hoc reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Facilitate stakeholder participation in cyber security meetings, presentations, seminars, and exercises to foster information-sharing and enhance cyber awareness.
• Assist with designing, planning, and administering Customer-facing cyber security training and exercises.
• Assist team members tasked with customer-facing incident response as they perform analysis to determine root cause and provide guidance to the customer regarding incident containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Provide input to team members tasked with customer-facing incident response as they develop long term recommendations to Customers post-incident based on "lessons learned."
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.
• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
• Travel will be required to support customer initiatives and engagements. Work hours could vary based on operational and cyber response needs.
Minimum Qualifications NON-COMPETITIVE
Five years of information technology, cybersecurity, or information assurance experience.
Substitutions:
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field substitutes for three years of required experience; any bachelor’s substitutes for two years of required experience.
An associate degree with 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute for one year of required experience. Candidates in a bachelor’s degree program with at least 15 semester credit hours in computer science or related field may substitute such credits for one year of required experience.
A master’s degree or higher in computer science or related field substitutes for one year of required experience.
Additional Comments NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
NOTE ON TELECOMMUTING: Employees are required to apply and obtain approval through management to telecommute according to the agency's Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
This position is eligible for location pay of $4,000.
