Duties Description The Health Facility Management Assistant serves as the Director of Admissions for the Home and is responsible for coordinating admissions and readmissions of all residents in addition to implementing and maintaining a public relations program with hospital discharge planners, outside agencies and families. The Health Facility Management Assistant serves as a member of the admission/preadmission committee to determine appropriate staff to conduct admission/preadmission interviews; conducts all preadmission care plan sessions; schedules all admissions/preadmissions to the Home. The incumbent also works closely with multidisciplinary teams and coordinates bed holds, and ensures all criteria are met.
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to 16 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 and or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Health Facility Management Assistant.
Open Competitive HELPS qualifications: Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program as a Health Facility Management Assistant, SG-18, if they possess six years of experience in the administration of a health-related facility, which includes work in human resources, business, or finance offices, quality management, or functioning as the administrator of a health-related facility, which includes collecting and analyzing administrative data to assess the efficiency of program operations and performance and develop internal controls; recommending changes and improvements to management; and reviewing and updating facility policies and procedures to ensure compliance with agency, facility, and regulatory requirements.
Substitution: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candicate will have experience working in Human Resources and familiarity with Workers’ Compensation and FMLA ; data entry using various software applications, particularly Word, and EXCEL; working knowledge of office management methods and practices. The candidate must also possess the ability to effectively communicate with staff members.

The posted salary range ($71,119 - $87,286) includes a downstate adjustment of $4,000.
