Duties Description Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting an Assistant Director of Nursing 1 Psychiatric (ADON). This position is located at CNYPC's Five Points Satellite Unit on the grounds of the Five Points Correctional Facility. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.

Assists in the management of a psychiatric facility’s nursing department; and directs Registered Nurse Supervisors 1 (Psychiatric) and other staff in the provision and oversight of nursing and direct care services.

• Functions as an assistant director of the nursing department; assists the Director Nursing 3 (Psychiatric) in the management of nursing and direct care services; the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures; and in the preparation of nursing department budgets.

• Reviews and monitors staffing levels and schedules, in collaboration with Registered Nurse Supervisors 1 (Psychiatric); and identifies and resolves staffing needs and schedule adjustments to achieve adequate coverage and maintain appropriate levels of care.

• Monitors the provision of nursing services to ensure quality care and compliance with State and federal requirements and standards of care.

• Provides nursing-specific technical assistance, guidance, and consultation to facility staff and local provider agencies.

• Coordinates nursing services with other disciplines and departments to ensure quality, effective, and integrated care and treatment services.

• In collaboration with human resources and training program staff, participates in recruitment and hiring processes; and the planning and coordination of training and continuing education programs for nursing and direct care staff.

• Performs quality assurance activities; reports and recommends modifications related to the nursing aspects of care, policies, and/or procedures; and assists in preparing for regulatory site visits and surveys.

• Represents the nursing department at meetings, and on committees and workgroups.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as an Assistant Director Nursing 1 Psychiatric if they have:
• Possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and
• Four years of post-licensure professional clinical nursing experience* working with individuals, at least 50% of whom have been diagnosed with mental illness, addiction, or substance use disorder. One year of this experience must be at a supervisory level.

*An associate's degree can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor’s degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.

OR

Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments:
Posted hiring rate includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C M-1 ($93,659), an Increase Hiring Rate ($16,008), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The posted job rate is the sum of the statutory job rate ($118,388), Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000).
