Duties Description Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor 2, SG-17 at Regional Maintenance, the selected candidate’s duties will perform carpentry work, woodworking and general construction. Duties include, but not be limited to:
• Under the direction of a skilled tradesperson, assist in routine carpentry and repairs, including finishing work and performing restoration work on historic buildings, which includes wood framing, shingling, repairing and installing facia, doors, windows, stairs, and porches.
• Assist in the completion of restoration work on historic buildings ensuring retention of the original historic fabrication.
• Travel in park vehicles to other facilities within the Palisades Interstate Park Region (PIPC) for work assignments.
• Operate and maintain various types of woodworking equipment to ensure accurate and safe operation.
• Under the guidance of skilled tradesperson, complete routine carpentry and repairs as part of a team and individually.
• Install and adjust door and building hardware as required.
• Adhere to all applicable safety regulations and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work effectively independently as well as in a team setting and demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects.
• Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.

Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications for this title per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
• Applicant must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
• Must be qualified and medically cleared to wear a respirator and adhere to safe working practices.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
