Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.

The Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25 will report to a higher-level manager within the New York State Police Dedicated Support Team


The New York State Police Dedicated ITS Support team is responsible for supporting homegrown and commercial business applications for the New York State Police. Many application are BC-1 applications and require 24x7 Support. This Field Systems Technical Supervisor will be responsible for the overall support and maintenance of the NYSP Field Systems based systems utilized by the New York State Police.

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

- Participate as a supervisor and level 3 technician within the Dedicated NYSP team for the Intelligence Systems Team.
- Work closely with Data Center Hosting, Database Administration, Network and the Chief Technology Office staff to support the installation of new systems and maintenance of existing systems.
- Mentor ITS 2 / ITS 3 staff within the unit in order to build support in depth amongst team resources.
- Assist with software renewals for agency business applications.
- Provide business hour and off hour technical support and maintenance for critical NYSP systems.
- Participate in security vulnerability scanning and remediation and ensure overall system compliance
- Perform supervision duties for Information Technology Specialist 2, 3 and contract staff.
- Troubleshoot application network and performance issues.
- Assist with Microsoft Server operating system application configuration and tuning.
- Interface with Active Directory with new applications, requesting new accounts and aid with group membership / security.
- Configure and support web / application servers which include the support of Internet Information Services(IIS), Oracle, Crystal Reports and related technologies.
- Act as a technical lead supporting system migration and testing for data center consolidation projects.

Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 4 OR in a position at G-23 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.
