Duties Description This position is within the ITS End User Services (EUS) Team in the Long Island Office.
• Provide remote technical support via the Service Desk for NYSIF staff and external customers.
• Address service requests and provide assistance to end users as it relates to NYSIF personal computing, both hardware and software.
• Image computers.
• Provide new employee onboarding support.
• Configure mobile devices.
• Support all ITS Teams with hardware deployments, installations and system maintenance.
• Create and maintain user and instructional documentation.
• Assist with the ITS hardware asset hardware inventory, including the maintenance of hardware inventory system data, participation in the annual Physical Inventory and hardware disposals.
• Demonstrated ability to engage in good customer service skills when working with end users is required.
• Experience and sound knowledge of basic computer functionality, including Windows operating systems, is necessary.
The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications • Reachable on current Civil Service eligible list for this title; OR
• One year of permanent, competitive class service as an Information Technology Specialist 2; OR, one year of permanent, competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; OR
• Bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR
• Bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
• 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
• Two years of experience in information technology.
Note: Certain math and business courses although taken as part of a computer science curriculum, are not counted towards the 15 semester credit hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Candidate needs to have a fundamental understanding of Active Directory to support the issuance of computer hardware and system access.
• Candidate needs to be able to diagnosis computer hardware and printer issues and determine corrective actions.
• Candidate should have a basic understanding of email and Office365 products.
• Candidate should be able to install, configure and troubleshoot software on Windows desktops.
• Candidate must have a good understanding of computer information systems fundamentals in order to support IT hardware and software.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.
At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
