Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree AND three years of experience in a public or private organization in the area of policy development, provision of technical assistance, development or implementation of educational or human services programs and/or development or implementation of grants and procurements.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of P-12 Education is seeking candidates for the position of Project Coordinator in the Office of Early Learning. This Office is responsible for a wide range of educational programs and works closely with parents, early care and education agencies, schools and state agencies to coordinate programs and resources with the goal of making New York’s early learning system as comprehensive and seamless as possible. Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Education Programs, the incumbent will oversee the implementation of initiatives under the federal Prekindergarten Expansion Grant. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• In conjunction with Department staff and staff from other state agencies and the City University of New York Professional Development Institute, ensure compliance with prekindergarten expansion grant objectives;
• Provide technical assistance to school district sub-grantees in the implementation of the prekindergarten program consistent with the grant goals and objectives;
• Develop and implement professional development consistent with the grant program and requirements as outlined in New York State’s plan;
• Manage the development of a comprehensive data system for early childhood programs and training and professional development of early childhood professionals;
• Oversee the implementation by each sub-grantee of QualitystarsNY, the State’s tiered quality rating and improvement system for early learning programs;
• In collaboration with the Early Childhood Advisory Council state partners, develop and execute a Prekindergarten Leadership Orientation, including ongoing support, and web-based resources;
• Review and execute all contracts with school district sub-grantees and provide contractual support and assistance;
• Oversee monitoring, quality assurance and evaluation of the program on an ongoing basis throughout the grant program;
• Ensure compliance with federal fiscal requirements as set forth in the Education Department General Administrative Requirements;
• Prepare reports and maintain communication with the U.S. Department of Education; and
• Maintain communication with the Governor’s Office, Division of the Budget, Board of Regents, advocates, and other interested individuals and parties regarding the status of the grant program.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary position. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.
* Leads to a maximum salary of $85,635 based on annual performance advances.
