Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill a Food Service Worker 3, Grade 13, position at the Cook Chill Production Center (CCPC) located in Orangeburg, New York. CCPC produces wholesome food that meets the nutritional and budgetary needs of its customers, which include OMH facilities, other state and government facilities, and non-profit agencies. Cook Chill is a system which prepares large quantities of food with an extended shelf life. Production tasks may be occurring in areas of production, receiving and holding work areas. The incumbent of the Food Service Worker (FSW) 3 position is responsible for supervising and working with a subordinate staff of Food Service Worker 2’s and Food Service Worker 1’s in production and sanitation assignments.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Schedules work assignments for Food Service Workers according to established standards.
• Provide in-service training for subordinates in procedures and techniques required in the performance of their job.
• Orients new employees in on-the-job procedures.
• Prepares evaluations of the Food Service Worker 2’s. Coordinates with Food Service Worker 2’s on the evaluations of Food Service Worker 1’s.
• Advises subordinate employees to acceptable work habits.
• Submits requests for counseling and disciplinary action following approved procedures.
• Oversees the preparation, cooking, chilling, and packaging of food products in accordance with CCPC, local, state and federal (USDA/FDA) health code standards.
• Oversees the cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining of work areas and food equipment in accordance with CCPC and HACCP standards.
• Communicates with Maintenance to ensure production equipment is maintained in operating condition.
• Breakdown and reassemble food equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
• Prepare and submit pre-operation and post-operation inspection reports according to CCPC policies and procedures and USDA standards.
• Communicate and follow up with Food Service Worker 2’s to assure that issues are resolved in assigned work areas.
• Monitor all issuing and inventory paperwork.
• Complete written reports as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Transfer Opportunity:
Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position. Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Food Service Worker 3, Grade 13, and be eligible for transfer; OR be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Additional Comments The posted salary range includes a downstate adjustment of $4,000.
