Duties Description • Supervise and lead full-time professional and technical staff; and temporary staff; all providing program delivery for Delaware, Greene, Schoharie and Otsego Counties.

• Supervises the implementation of regional workload priorities and work plan under the direction of the Regional Wildlife Manager (RWM).

• Under the direction of the RWM, implements and directs the activities of regional staff representing management teams for big game; furbearer and small game; and upland game bird and migratory game bird management with responsibility for planning, budgeting and personnel management.

• Under the direction of the RWM, implements and directs the activities of regional staff responsible for the management of Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) in the counties of the Stamford Working Circle with responsibility for planning, budgeting and personnel management.

• Works alone or as part of a team on regional wildlife program’s special projects of regional significance as directed by the RWM.

• Assists in the development, amendment and review of DEC-promulgated regulations pertaining to wildlife program administration.

• Assists in the preparation, review and implementation of regional policies and procedures pertaining to wildlife program administration.

• Maintain regular liaison with the Region 4 Division of Operations, DCEE and other regional programs as necessary and pertinent to their assigned responsibilities or the responsibilities of direct reports.

• Maintain regular liaison with Regional 4 Office of Public Protection leadership and staff responsible for areas under their responsibility.

• Under the direction of and in collaboration with the RWM, provides immediate supervision, administration and support to the regional wildlife program’s emergency big game wildlife response staff and program; demonstrable experience proficiency with firearms and chemical immobilization is strongly preferred.

• Complete various other assignments as directed by or through the Regional Wildlife Manager and/or Regional Supervisor of Natural Resources

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 2 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG23.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
