Duties Description • Supervise and lead full-time professional and technical staff; and temporary staff; all providing program delivery from two regional offices covering a diverse 9-county region.

• Establishes regional workload priorities and work plan.

• Develops, implements and directs all major program areas with responsibility for planning, budgeting and personnel management.

• Develops and directs regional wildlife program’s special projects of regional significance.

• Assists in the development, amendment and review of DEC-promulgated regulations pertaining to wildlife program administration.

• Assists in the preparation, review and implementation of regional policies and procedures pertaining to wildlife program administration.

• Responsible for the facilitation, coordination, administration and oversight of program staff skills training, annual refreshers and professional development.

• Program lead on matters pertaining to the oversight and regulation of special license holders within the region’s boundaries.

• Responsible for supervision of the regional land management team.

• Responsible for supervision of the regional wildlife health team.

• Maintain regular liaison with Regional Attorney and Office of General Counsel, and responsible as program lead for all program-related compliance monitoring and enforcement actions.

• Maintain regular liaison with Regional Permits Administrator on matters regarding permitting and project review.

• Maintain regular liaison with Regional 4 Office of Public Protection leadership and staff.

• Overall program supervision and administration of regional wildlife program’s emergency wildlife response staff and program.

• Complete various other assignments as directed by or through the Regional Supervisor of Natural Resources.

Minimum Qualifications Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 23 or higher and either:

Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 - One year of permanent competitive service as a Biologist 3 (Aquatic), (Ecology), (Marine) or (Wildlife), SG25.
or

Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6: Must have current or prior service in a title designated as 52.6 within two salary grades\one M grade of this position. To determine if your title is designated as 52.6 go to the Department of Civil Service website http://www.cs.ny.gov/ and search for your title under GOT-IT.

Preferred:
demonstrable experience proficiency with firearms and chemical immobilization
