Duties Description Come join the Department of Labor’s Office of Communications! We are looking for a highly creative individual who thrives in a collaborative environment to join our social media team. The Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content) will assist the Communications Office to conceptualize, draft, shoot, write and edit content related to Department of Labor programs, activities, and initiatives to be disseminated through social media.

The incumbent will:

• Participate in media campaign planning, including research, development, creation, and scheduling posts specific to departmental needs.

• Assist with development and maintenance of a comprehensive social media content calendar, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely and accurate information dissemination

• Coordinate, review, and edit the posting of information to agency social media accounts (Facebook/Instagram/X/LinkedIn)

• Monitor websites, social media , and digital communications trends to ensure that information is kept current, fresh, informative, and appealing.

• Perform quality assurance checks of work to ensure that all editorial and graphic assets have been uploaded properly to the page and are free of technical issues.

• Use the content management system to create, modify, and edit social posts under the direction of management.

• Provide support executing social media strategies.

• Utilize information from social media listening tools and analytics to address public concerns

Minimum Qualifications NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.

Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Exceptional written and verbal communication

• Proven success writing creative and compelling social media content that generates engagement with key audiences

• Experience writing video scripts

• Experience working in the field and shooting content with a principal

• Experience with social media customer service, analytics, and listening tools

• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders

• Bilingual (English & Spanish)

Additional Comments Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.

Candidates with no previous state service will begin at the starting rate of the salary range listed above.
