Duties Description The Social Work Supervisor (SWS) 1, Gr. 23 will perform the full range of supervisory duties over subordinate social work staff and will plan, develop, implement, and evaluate social work programs and services. They will determine social work program priorities, goals, and objectives and develop and monitor policies and practices to ensure consistency with regulatory requirements, agency policies, professional standards, and other relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
The SWS 1, Gr. 23 will oversee administrative and reporting functions including fiscal, human resources, program statistical reports, and other support services; prepare budget requests for the social work program; and participate in the recruitment and selection of social work staff. They will develop competency-based assessment tools; establish staff performance standards; review and evaluate clinical documentation and the ability of social work staff to assess and treat individuals; determine the quality and appropriateness of treatment and interventions provided to individuals; ensure that documentation meets professional and regulatory guidelines; and evaluate the educational needs of social work staff, ensuring that they maintain continuing education and licensure requirements.
Minimum Qualifications Provisional Promotion: possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State and one year of service as a Licensed Master Social Worker.
Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 21 or above, and that is eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 and or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law to Social Work Supervisor 1.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have experience with Long Term Care.

If there are three or fewer qualified candidates interested in the appointment to this position, a permanent appointment may be made pursuant to Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law. To be eligible, candidates must be an employee of the Department of Health Veterans Home at St. Albans and have possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State and one year of service as a Licensed Master Social Worker.
The posted salary range includes $4000 of downstate adjustment. There is a Shift Differential Pay Increase of 7% for the evening shift 7% and 10% for the night shift.
This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
