Duties Description Central New York Psychiatric Center (CNYPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their Corrections-Based Satellite Units located in New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), Five Points Correctional Facility.

As a Psychiatrist at CNYPC, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides culturally competent and evidence-based treatment and support services in a recovery-oriented environment for incarcerated patients that are in custody of DOCCS, including:
• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings
• Creating treatment plans including medication management
• Attending meetings with DOCCS medical and executive staff
• Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with DOCCS
• Assisting DOCCS with capacity evaluations
• Responding to behavioral health emergencies within the correctional facility
• Pursuing outpatient Court Order Psychiatric Medications (COPM) and Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT)
• Conducting Prelease Coordination (PRC) to ensure individuals have mental health resources upon release

About CNYPC:
CNYPC operates both Forensic Inpatient Operations at Marcy NY, and Corrections-Based Operations for incarcerated individuals with mental illness in the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) custody.
Forensic Inpatient facility is a 183-bed secure hospital, comprised of sentenced incarcerated individuals who are admitted for inpatient services from various correctional facilities and county jails pursuant to section 402 of Correction Law (CL); non-sentenced incarcerated individuals who are admitted for inpatient services from the county jail only, pursuant to section 508 of the CL; defendants who are adjudicated as not competent to proceed with trial and are remanded to the OMH pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law (CPL) 730. Satellite Units are located in Albion, Attica, Auburn, Coxsackie, Elmira, Five Points, Marcy RMHU, Midstate, Washington, and Wende.

Romulus is a charming town in Seneca County, New York, nestled at the heart of the Finger Lakes between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake. The town lies about 45 miles west of Syracuse and 50 miles east of Rochester, making it easily accessible from the Rochester–Seneca Falls metro area. The area is surrounded by rolling hills, scenic lake views, and waterfalls, with both lakes offering extensive wine trails and outdoor recreation.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:

Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is at Central New York Psychiatric Center's Five Points Satellite Unit located on the grounds of Five Points Correctional Facility in Seneca County.
