Duties Description This position is based in OPRHP’s central Albany office and will work closely with sustainability staff. The incumbent will also support the bureau in developing and implementing various sustainability programs at OPRHP. Work may fall within the following areas:
• Waste handling & reporting
• Refrigerant management
• Single use plastic elimination
• Reduced mowing
• Hydration stations
Job Duties:
Program Development and Coordination:
-Conduct research to aid the creation and implementation of sustainability programs.
-Create & gather sustainability related documents, guidance, and materials.
-Coordinate with park managers and regional staff to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations.
Program Coordination:
-Collaborate with the Sustainable Operations unit and other bureaus to develop and implement green purchasing and broader sustainability programs across the agency.
-Provide advice and support to facility managers and regional staff to aid the implementation of sustainability programs.
-Develop educational resources to promote green purchasing tools.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
-Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of sustainability programs and initiatives.
-Prepare reports and presentations on sustainability metrics and projects for internal and external stakeholders.
-Maintain and regularly review green purchasing databases, contracts, and preferred source offerings.
Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No minimum qualifications per Civil Service.
Additional Comments PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
• Bachelors or Graduate degree in environmental policy, conservation, engineering, sustainability, or similar discipline.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).
