Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving in a Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) title OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Analyze mainframe COBOL, MVS JCL, SQR, and SQL programs as well as PeopleSoft online objects and programs
• Create design documents and other related system documentation
• Collaborate with business analysts and systems users to gather and refine system change requirements
• Establish test conditions based on code specifications
• Code and debug mainframe COBOL, MVS JCL, SQR, and SQL programs as well as PeopleSoft online objects and programs
• Develop new and update existing check printing templates for the Advanced Function Printing (AFP) applications using Design Pro Tools Software
• Provide complete Fit/ Gap analysis of proposed system changes
• Conduct technical walkthroughs of proposed system changes
• Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in a development environment
• Debug and fix reported defects and implement enhancement requests
• Conduct code reviews as assigned and recommend changes
• Perform Quality Assurance testing of code changes as assigned
• Work closely with business analysts and system users on problem identification and resolution
• Provide on-call support for after-hours batch processing as needed
Additional Comments Desired Competencies
(1) Experience with Oracle’s PeopleSoft ERP systems
(2) Functional understanding of the PeopleSoft HCM modules
(3) Experience with ERP System upgrades
(4) Experience with large volume payroll
(5) Proven desire to learn new technologies
(6) Experience programming in an Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
(7) Experience with creation, review, and tuning of SQL.
