Salary RangeFrom $33972 to $41756 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title and eligible for reassignment; or one year of permanent competitive service or 55-b/c service in a title SG-7 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The duties of these positions will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Answer the 800, Law Enforcement & Main SOR phone lines: obtain and document contact information for callers prior to research; assist callers by searching Sex Offender Registry (SOR) for names & identifying data to confirm if subject is, or is not, on the registry; provide details to caller following legal requirements when a match is found; assist law enforcement from NYS & out-of-state agencies including District Attorneys, jurisdictions, Parole, Probation, Corrections, other state Registries, and US Marshals with inquiries related to the NYS Registry; and assist offenders, and the general public with all questions related to the Registry;
• Verify and update offender address changes: review address, employer, motor vehicle, internet and higher education changes received from offenders; update information on SOR database; assign offender jurisdictional agency and send appropriate correspondence to agencies advising of changes made; and update photographs on SOR database upon receipt of LiveScan, eJusticeNY, or manual photo updates, exhibiting care and attention to detail when making updates;
• Assist national Registry staff to update offender data: work with Registries from other states, territories and Indian Nations to provide NYS offender data, and obtain interstate offender information for determination of registerability in NYS. Inquiries may be received via phone, fax, email or USPS;
• Review submitted materials from daycare providers, camp directors, nursing homes and other volunteer organizations for completeness; enter names and identifying information into database to confirm if subject is, or is not, on the registry; and document findings and communicate results to inquirer; and
• Retrieve, open and sort mail to ensure all documents are received and processed in a timely manner.
