Duties Description This position will serve as the Director of the Division of Operations Bureau of Recreation. Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Provide leadership for the Bureau of Recreation
-Establish priorities and schedule work projects
-Develop policy and procedures for campgrounds and day use areas
-Coordinate the preparation of unit management plans for recreational facilities
-Prepare annual budget and spending plan for the Bureau of Recreation
-Prepare related reports and analysis
-Oversee the administration of the Campground Reservation System
Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications for provisional appointment:
Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Campgrounds Program Supervisor.
or
Reassignment: Currently in the title and an employee of DEC or
or
Reinstatement Eligible: Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Eligible for transfer under Section 52.6: Must have current or prior service in a title designated as 52.6 within two salary grades\one M grade of this position. To determine if your title is designated as 52.6 go to the Department of Civil Service website and search for your title under GOT-IT.
If no more than three individuals meeting the provisional qualifications are interested, it will be possible to make a permanent appointment via non-competitive promotion. The minimum qualifications for non-competitive promotion are: Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Campgrounds Program Supervisor
Additional Comments Transportation needs of this position require use of a state vehicle and adhering to the Department’s Vehicle Policy. You must have and maintain a valid driver’s license for this position.
Travel may be required.
Overtime may be required.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
Telecommuting may be available up to 50% of work schedule, will be discussed at interview.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
