Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have permanent status as a Secretary 1, Grade 11, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Section 70.1 allows a permanent, competitive class employee, who has at least one year of permanent service in an appropriate title. Candidates who are not transferring from a keyboarding title must possess adequate keyboarding skills (i.e., the ability to type 35 words per minute corrected) as demonstrated by passing the Keyboard Specialist performance test. Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting a qualified State employee to fill the position of Secretary 1, Grade 11, in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS), Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Community Treatment - Strict and Intensive Supervision Treatment Unit (SIST). The Division of Forensic Services is conveniently located on the grounds of the Capital District Psychiatric Center at 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York. We offer a comfortable working environment with covered parking available on site for a nominal monthly fee.
• Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Director of SIST and provide administrative backup support to DFS Executive Management, as needed.
• Coordinate travel for professional staff throughout the Division and process all travel through the Statewide Financial System (SFS).
• Receive, record, and refer incoming correspondence and telephone calls.
• Prepare a variety of reports, documents, spreadsheets and correspondence using Word and Excel software.
• Interact in person and by telephone, and handle and/or refer inquiries concerning work activities/projects.
• Coordinate meetings, make travel arrangements and maintain scheduling of calendars.
• Maintain subject and reference files.
• Enter sensitive data into bureau data systems.
• Fulfill other support duties, as assigned (e.g., performing system inquiry).
