Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service in a title at Grade 25 or above with current New York State Bar Admission and eligible for transfer to Assistant Director, Committee on Open Government under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. (Candidates requesting consideration for transfer must also be a graduate of an accredited law school with a LLB or JD degree, and may also need to meet additional experiential conditions to qualify for consideration.)

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the incumbent will perform a full range of advice, consultation and legal opinions on matters related to the State’s Freedom of Information Law, Open Meetings Law and Personal Privacy Protection Law. Interactions are with the public; media representatives; state, county and local policy makers and boards; public interest organizations and related constituencies. Tasks are performed independently and with little direct supervision.
