Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service as a Resource and Reimbursement Agent 1 or eligible for 70.1 transfer.
Or reachable on the Public Administration Trainee Transition (PATT) list OR the Professional Careers Test (PCT) eligible list OR the Public Management Intern (PMI) eligible list OR have one year of permanent competitive service or 55 b/c service in a title eligible for transfer under section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Appointments made from the PATT, PCT or PMI lists require completion of a two-year traineeship.
Duties Description
Foster Care Eligibility Reviews (FCER); act as Bureau of Financial Operations (BFO) liaison with the Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) and local districts throughout the state; Prepare Title IVE and Medicaid eligibility determinations for youth placed in residential settings with DJJOY; apply for Medicaid for youth following their transfer from DJJOY residential settings to the community; monitor and submit monthly Medicaid per-diem report (eMedNY) for youth placed in residential care with DJJOY and when appropriate, correct any Medicaid denials; prepare Medicaid claims and process through epaces application (NYS Dept. of Health); support the implementation of PASSPORT, a special DJJOY initiative.

Additional Comments This may be filled at the traineeship level. Preferred experience for this position would include one year Title IV-E Medicaid eligibility experience, and/or include experience with intake interviews with individuals receiving services and/or family members to determine financial resources and obtain needed documents to establish eligibility for benefits; determine rate or amount of charges; maintaining billing accounts, develop benefits and entitlements; protect individuals’ resources; and conduct financial reviews/audits to determine third party coverage.
