Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be a current NYS employee, your score is reachable on the Civil Service Eligible List for this title or be eligible for a 70.1 Transfer. You may be eligible for Section 70.1 transfer if you have one year of competitive, permanent or contingent-permanent service in a transfer eligible title Grade 9 or higher. You must also have passed or be able to pass a typing test at 35 wpm with 96% accuracy.

Duties Description Requirements:
• Excellent Communication skills, orally and in writing;
• Excellent organizational, tracking and proof reading skills;
• Interest and/or experience in advertising, marketing or communications fields is a plus;
• Must be able to deal with reporters on the phone; take good; messages and track their calls/inquiries;
• Friendly, positive and flexible attitude;

• Navigate proficiently in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and the Internet;
• Ability to multi-task; assist with a variety of assignments; and work well independently;
• May involve assisting with loading and moving boxes or display pieces;
• Must have good judgment and interpersonal skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Handle a variety of clerical support functions at the direction of the Director of Marketing such as scheduling and coordinating meetings, maintaining files and tracking assignments;
• Assist as required, in the development and tracking of custom plates, public events and marketing tasks, sales data and projections;
• Assist as required, Communications staff and those from other units on events or coordinating materials for events;
• Assist with office telephone coverage; deal with reporters and track media inquiries;
• Assist in coordinating with press and marketing staff, the logistical planning of any new custom plate releases or promotional materials, media events, public awareness efforts, etc.;
• Handle inquiries; coordinate communications and other contacts with vendors, consultants, outside organizations, and staff;
• Coordinate all marketing mailings; track expenses; assist with purchase orders and contracts; proofing and printing deadlines;
• Assist in the development and maintenance of files;
• Assist with public events in pre-planning logistics, event launches, pre and post show inventory and follow-up paperwork etc.;
• Other similar duties as assigned.

Additional Comments Dress Code: Business Attire
Professional attire is required. This office, on occasion, meets with executive management, other state agencies, private sector organizations; the press, and participates in public events.

Minimal travel and overtime may be required on short notice.

The professional who fills this position will primarily work directly for the Director of Marketing and Custom Plate Development as well as the Director of the Office of Communications. While specific DMV knowledge is not necessary, excellent administrative and interpersonal skills are. From taking minutes at meetings, to drafting correspondence or a report, to simply tracking assignments or assisting in proofreading a document, this position requires the skills necessary to be busy with multitasking a variety of assignments each day.
