Minimum Qualifications Appointment method:
List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Information Technology Specialist 2.
Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Information regarding transfer eligibility may be available on the Civil Service Career Mobility Office website at http://careermobilityoffice.cs.ny.gov/cmo/.
Please Note that under Civil Service Law, an employee cannot have two consecutive upward 70.1 or 52.6 transfers without an intervening eligible list appointment if such transfers would exceed two salary grades.

Duties Description The Department of Financial Services is seeking candidates to fill the position of Information Technology Specialist 2 in its Information Technology Office. The incumbent of this position will work directly under the supervision an Information Technology Specialist 3 (DC). Duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Responsible for providing assistance to “Helpdesk” requests or referrals of computer related problems.
• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining and assisting in developing and planning networked systems.
• Performing installation, administration, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software.
• Preparing and deploying PCs to end users.
• Collecting information needed for new hardware/software installations or modifications to existing configurations including all necessary support infrastructure.
• Running diagnostic software to ensure that equipment operates properly and taking appropriate corrective action when required.
