Minimum Qualifications This is a transfer opportunity for current New York State employees only who are eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law - candidates must have permanent status in a title approved for transfer by Civil Service within two salary grades of the Grade 6 level.

The Beginning Clerical Worker Eligible List is also used to fill this title. If you are on this list, you may receive a canvass letter.

55b/c eligible candidates are also encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate must be able to take and pass a typing proficiency test.


Duties Description This position is located in the Rochester Regional Office.

•Answer telephones; refer visitors or messages to appropriate staff member.
•Maintain files.
•Type correspondence, legal documents, records and other written material from using handwritten rough drafts, marked copy and/or recordings or data from various other sources.
•Review work to ensure compliance with office procedures including, but not limited to, layout, spelling, punctuation and grammar; discuss problems with originator to provide possible solution.
•Operate computer, Dictaphone, fax, copy and mail machines.
•Deliver/file documents to the court and county clerk as needed.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
