Minimum Qualifications Eligible candidates must be a current New York State employee and have one year of permanent competitive services in an Administrative or Personnel title allocated to a SG-23 and be eligible to transfer via Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The Affirmative Action Administrator 2 will assist the Affirmative Action Officer in the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to those listed below. As the duties and responsibilities of the Affirmative Action Office evolve, so will the duties of the Affirmative Action Administrator 2 as delegated by the AAO.
Under supervision of Affirmative Action Officer, the Affirmative Action Administrator 2 will contribute to the maintenance of an environment of mutual respect and equality for New York State Insurance Fund’s employees in accordance with Civil Service Laws Rules and Regulations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Laws, New York State Division of Human Rights Laws and all applicable policies and procedures.
Conduct investigations of complaints related to human rights violation; such as interviewing compliant and witnesses; gathering and analyzing evidence and other related documents; preparing documents for interrogations; and, preparing draft investigation reports. Interpret laws, rules and regulations relative to United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights, the Americans with Disabilities Act., New York State Governor Office Employee Relations and all agency policies and procedures applicable to staff and investigations.
May supervise and train subordinate staff; plan work schedules, evaluate staff performances to assess strengths and weaknesses; determines training needs; and, counsel individuals about performance standards and how to meet them. May provide periodic retraining as programs or the mandates governing them change; prepare and draft various reports relating to underutilization of protected class members.
Administer the agency’s Reasonable Accommodation program in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Conduct oversight activities related to the utilization of New York State Women Minority Business Enterprises program and other related special projects as delegated.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interact with executives, business managers, department heads, other governmental agencies, unions and employees at all levels. The position involves at least 50% travel throughout the State of New York.
