Minimum Qualifications Individuals who have one year of permanent service as a Mental Health Program Specialist, G-27, are eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates who are eligible to transfer via Section 52.6 and 70.1 of the Civil Service Law may be considered. Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director, Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Community Treatment, the incumbent will manage the Risk Assessment and Record Review (RARR) unit within the Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Community Treatment. This unit oversees the risk assessment and record review of individuals who have committed sex offenses and who are nearing the end of their criminal sentence in order to determine whether civil confinement in a secure treatment facility or release to strict and intensive community supervision and treatment is appropriate. Specific duties of the incumbent may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Supervise all RARR clinicians and support staff.
• Assist in the formulation and implementation of bureau policies and procedures.
• Develop, update and review written policies and procedures for all RARR staff to ensure practices follow current laws, rules and regulations.
• Develop and implement orientation training for all new staff. Identify on-going training needs and work with Director to implement.
• Develop procedures to conduct regular and random reviews of work assignments and tasks.
• Establish cooperative work relationships with other Forensic Bureaus and other State agencies.
• Assist the BSOECT director with other tasks as assigned.
