Salary RangeFrom $37998 to $46573 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Must be a current State employee with one year of permanent competitive service as a Secretary 1, Grade 11; or one year of permanent competitive service in a clerical, secretarial or paraprofessional title allocated to Grade 9 or higher and eligibility for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, or currently reachable for appointment from the Secretary 1 eligible list.
Transfer candidates will be required to demonstrate keyboarding proficiency by passing the typing performance test, unless they submit proof of having passed the test in the last five years, or currently hold or have previously held a position that required them to pass the typing performance test.
Duties Description The Secretary 1, Grade 11, will be assigned to Human Resources Management and will perform duties that include, but are not limited to:
• Providing the full range of secretarial support
• Typing and formatting letters, memoranda, and reports, and meeting required deadlines
• Screening telephone calls
• Handling correspondence
• Assisting with recruitment by preparing and posting job vacancy announcements internally and on the StateJobsNY site
• Running eligible lists
• Preparing canvass letters and mailings
• Scheduling interviews and maintaining canvass files
• Running clearance codes
• Photocopying, faxing, scanning and delivering documents
• Running reports as needed
• Serving as back up for the other support staff in HRM
• Providing support to the Office of Administration.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, as this position requires frequent communication with Department staff and outside parties. Candidates should possess excellent computer skills and be flexible, well organized, and able to prioritize assignments.
Additional Comments The hours of this position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Appointment to this position is contingent upon Budget freeze waiver approval.
