Minimum Qualifications The minimum qualifications are as follows:
• Must be a US Citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be currently attending a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State.
Preferred qualifications:
• Graduate Student/Minimum level - Sophomore
• Major in Communication Studies, Engineering, Information
Technology or Mathematics.
• Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year College or University (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students); or a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program.
• Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or equivalent to a C.
Duties Description This Internship position will be in the Data Center Networks unit and will be primarily responsible for the operational support of the Consolidated State Data Centers network environment. Data Center Networks supports these environments 24/7/365. The duties of this position will include;
Network Router, Switch, load balancer and firewall configurations and support.
Monitor Network with sniffer, Infinistream, or like capture software.
Diagnose and troubleshoot networking issues.
Document application flows and network environments using Visio.
Work with agency and ITS staff to help resolve networking issues.
Additional Comments This Office of Information Technology Services position will be assigned to work within the Chief Operations Office/Data Center Network.
The following skills are desired:
• Familiarity of TCP/IP Routing and routing protocols
• Familiarity of TCP/IP addressing
• Network troubleshooting fundamentals
