a grade 21 or higher.;

Duties Description Managing projects to successful completion:
• Conducting and participating in meetings with appropriate project participants, and project sponsors for assigned OSC projects;
• By example, train and mentor team members and sponsors in the project management function, importance and plan development techniques.
• Participate in all phases of the project as appropriate. In conjunction with the project team, develop and maintain all of the necessary project plans according to the OSC SMART Projects method, execute the plans and close out the project.

Project management consulting for projects:
• Training and mentoring project managers, team members and sponsors in Project Management function, importance and plan development techniques;
• In conjunction with the project manager and team, developing a project schedule, including identifying and scheduling project deliverables, milestones and required tasks using scheduling software;
• Develop and maintain, or instruct and assist project managers to develop and maintain, all types of management plans, including communication plans and risk plans;
• Train, mentor and assist the project managers with execution activities, including status meetings, communications and enactment of project plans;

Conduct training for OSC project managers:
• Conducting training and project analysis sessions on beginning level project management topics;

Advancing OSC's project management maturity:
• Creating action plans, processes and procedures to support the achievement of OSC project management objectives at basic levels;
• Assisting with the development of metrics to evaluate progress towards meeting project management objectives;
• Having a well-developed understanding of the OSC project methodology;
• Coordinate cross divisional efforts to achieve project management objectives and seed project management skills in the Divisions;
• Compile and organize information gathered from projects to provide a source of historical information for future projects in a format accessible to OSC project participants;
• Assisting a Project Consultant PM 2 or PM 3 or the Director or Assistant Director of the PgMO with integrating Project Management best practices into operational activities for Division business units;
• Learning, mastering and continuously advancing and developing the OSC project management methodology;
• Contribute to marketing the PgMO;
• Contribute to the Project Management Community of Practice, ensuring that invitations, agendas, facilities and guest speakers are arranged for quarterly meetings.
• Other project related tasks as assigned.

Additional Comments DESIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Experience managing projects with the use of a formal methodology;
• Experience managing projects in OSC and/or NYS government;
• The ability to work with others to analyze problems quickly and develop the best solution;
• Familiarity with NYS procurement processes;
• Business skills including coaching, working in teams, negotiating, facilitating;
• Good organizational skills, and able to set priorities when working on multiple tasks;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills (ability to have fun while getting results);
• The ability to be flexible, to adapt to change, and work well in a fast paced, participative, deadline-oriented environment with diverse assignments;
• Project management training, preferably certified by the Project Management Institute;
