Salary RangeFrom $28865 to $35704 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 1; OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 4 or above and eligible for transfer under section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
This work is accomplished in accordance with applicable procedures, rules, regulations and laws.
• Process transactions and maintain records, documents and information in order to meet the requirements of agency programs.
• Maintain records and files.
• Receive, screen, review, and verify documents.
• Search for and compile information and data.
• Read, review and redact specific information from investigation reports, other investigative materials and sensitive documents.
• Edit, proofread and review documents.
• Answer questions about the activities of the various programs within the Justice Center either orally or by correspondence.
• Prepare and/or issue documents and/or verify the validity of documents.
• Produce and manage agency correspondence.
• Office record keeping and filing.
• Read and follow procedural manuals and other documents used in routine office processing.
• Use common office equipment.
• Perform tasks accurately within prescribed time frames.
• Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Additional Comments The New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice Center) is charged with protecting over one million New Yorkers under the care or jurisdiction of six state agencies. The following list outlines several of the Justice Center’s key responsibilities:
• Advocate on behalf of individuals with disabilities and provide oversight of quality of care.
• Operate a centralized, statewide 24-hour hotline and incident reporting system staffed by trained personnel.
• Operate a statewide register that contains the names of individuals found responsible for egregious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect.
• Centralize and perform functions relating to criminal history background checks.
• Investigate serious allegations of abuse and neglect.
• Prosecute criminal acts of abuse and neglect.
• Analyze abuse patterns and trends in order to prevent future occurrences.
