Minimum Qualifications Due to the nature of the assignment, the incumbent must possess a valid NYS Drivers License. Experience in a high pressured and results-oriented mailroom setting, working with both highly sensitive and confidential information/material is preferred. The incumbent must be willing to be trained and work with technical equipment that may result in the handling of potentially hazardous, dangerous, and threatening materials.

Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Mail & Support Services Supervisor, the incumbent of this position will serve as a driver for the Director of the Budget. Additional responsibilities may include: • Assisting with receiving, opening, and ensuring the integrity of all mail and packages for all employees of the Division of the Budget, Executive Chamber and the Lt. Governor’s Office in accordance with guidelines prescribed by the Office of Public Security. This includes mail received by employees in Albany and New York City. • Assisting with ensuring the integrity of mail and packages through the utilization of special x­-ray technology and by thoroughly examining all mail and packages to ensure that it is free of contaminants. • Exercising judgment as to the integrity of all mail and packages and ensuring that all "suspicious" packages are handled properly, that all such packages are inspected by the appropriate authorities, and assisting with any necessary investigation. • Assisting in the processing and filling of supply orders, receiving supplies, and purchasing supplies. • Delivering U.S. mail and interoffice mail to the Division of the Budget, Executive Chamber and Lt. Governor’s Office. This includes the processing of special delivery requests. • Additional support responsibilities, including photocopying, assisting with office relocation and furniture inventory.
