Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Intercultural Relations.
Provisional Appointment: Candidate must have a master’s degree or satisfactory completion of 30 graduate credit hours, either of which must be in education, public administration, or public policy AND five years of professional experience in elementary or secondary education, with at least two years specifically identified in either intercultural/multicultural education or in education for the disadvantaged. Two years of this experience must include oversight of intercultural/multicultural education programs or educational programs for the disadvantaged. Candidates will need to submit a copy of master’s degree diploma or college transcripts.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Education Policy (OEP) is seeking to fill an Associate in Intercultural Relations position within the Office of Family and Community Engagement. The Associate in Intercultural Relations will perform duties related to research analysis and evaluation in support of complex agency program activities and will be responsible for the support of the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Challenge Incentive Grant program and other secondary and post-secondary educational opportunity program initiatives. Other duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate the administration of the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) Incentive Grant program with schools, community based organizations and colleges;
• Coordinate and conduct professional development for school teachers, community based organization staff and college faculty/staff to implement at least one of the national MBK initiatives;
• Review, analyze, and approve project work plans, budgets and amendments to ensure their compliance with national MBK initiatives and the New York State MBK initiative;
• Coordinate the development of evaluation processes and procedures for the MBK Challenge Incentive Grant program; and
• Coordinate and collaborate the MBK Challenge Incentive Grant program with other New York State MBK initiatives and the development of the New York State MBK Regional Communities.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent or provisional appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.

*Salary leads to $97,632 through annual performance reviews.
