Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the current Civil Service List for Licensed Master Social Worker 2
OR
Permanent service as a Licensed Master Social Worker 2
OR
Eligible to 70.1 transfer to a Licensed Master Social Worker 2 title.
OPEN COMPETITIVE: Licensed and currently registered by New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Registration and licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is not considered qualifying for these examinations.
** Professional social work experience involves activities such as screening, assessing and diagnosing individuals' and families' psychosocial needs, strengths and limitations; participating in the development of treatment plans and discharge plans; counseling and educating individuals, groups and families to promote mental, emotional, physical and social functioning; helping access needed services; providing client/patient advocacy and crisis intervention; and developing, coordinating and evaluating services and support systems. Experience limited to social work research or social work administration is NOT considered qualifying.
Duties Description - Assists in the design and development of streamlined procedures for the processing and management of family care resources and benefits.
- Reviews all initial certification/recertification packets for completeness and compliance for review and approval.
- Interprets NYS OPWDD Family Care Policy and Regulation, and provides direction and leadership in the design and implementation as approved by CNY DDSO administration.
- Facilitates the Family Care Program Management Committee involving Administration, County/Agency FC Coordinators, Service Coordination Supervisors and other staff in a participatory role in developing organizational and management approaches to meet the operating requirements of the program. Seeks administrative involvement and approval for recommendations.
- Prepares reports as required.
- Assists County/Agency FC Coordinators in the training of Family Care Home Liaisons
- Develops and implements recruitment strategies
- Monitors DMC Critical Driver Certification for all family care providers and communicates invalid licenses to providers and staff, as necessary.
- Monitors visitation deficiencies and reports quarterly to administration
- Monitors employees as family care providers and semi-annually updates with the Personnel Office.
- Facilitates the OPWDD FC Policy Manual distribution and training for providers and staff, as necessary.
- Oversees approval and re-approvals of Substitute Providers (including periodic reminders when approvals are ending)
- Oversees the approval of Sitter Service (including periodic reminders when approvals are ending).
- Facilitates the Family Care Advisory Committee
- Seeks provider/individual/staff input and involvement in family care related issues
- Regularly advises the agency administration on provider concerns and suggestions
- Serves as a resource and advocate for individual family care providers
- Involves ASFC Coordinators in the FC Management Meetings (e.g., interpreting State policy and regulatory requirements)
- Facilitates training as needed
- Provides technical assistance and guidance
- Encourages County/Agency Family Care Coordinators in their OPWDD FC Policy 10.7.2 responsibilities
- Will be responsible for ensuring responsibilities outlined in FC Policy 10.7.2 are supported/carried out, including:
o #7, Ensures that the FC Advisory Council Meets
o #12, Monitoring and approving payments including emergency respite, trial visits, therapeutic respite.
o Providing information to Central Office
