Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be New York State employees with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c service in a title eligible to transfer via 70.1 in accordance with Civil Service Law*; OR
Seven years of full-time military or civilian experience in emergency management to include two or more of the following activities: operations, recovery, or response planning. A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for up to four years of experience. An Associate's Degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience.
*Candidates currently on the Disaster Preparedness Program Rep 3 eligible list for Albany will be canvassed for the vacancy and will not need to respond to this posting, unless they are applying as a transfer candidate.
Duties Description Plans, organizes, and conducts training for first responders; Provides technical planning assistance to local government agencies in the development of a wide variety of disaster preparedness and emergency response plans; Directs, manages and supervises the activities of a planning unit; Suggests input for the creation and implementation of emergency preparedness and planning executive policies; Supervises disaster response and operations activities; Performs the full range of staff supervisory responsibilities (e.g., performance reviews, time and attendance, and employee development).
