Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be on the Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Analyze mainframe SQL, SQR, MVS JCL, and COBOL programs as well as PeopleSoft online objects and programs
• Create design documents and other related system documentation
• Collaborate with business analysts and systems users to gather and refine system change requirements
• Establish test conditions based on code specifications
• Code and debug mainframe SQL, SQR, MVS JCL, and COBOL programs as well as PeopleSoft online objects and programs
• Develop new and update existing check printing templates for the Advanced Function Printing (AFP) applications using Design Pro Tools Software
• Provide complete Fit/ Gap analysis of proposed system changes
• Conduct technical walkthroughs of proposed system changes
• Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in a development environment
• Debug and fix reported defects and implement enhancement requests
• Conduct code reviews as assigned and recommend changes.
• Perform Quality Assurance testing of code changes as assigned
• Work closely with business analysts and system users on problem identification and resolution
• Provide on-call support for after-hours batch processing as needed
• Provide production support for the disaster recovery check printing process
• Assist with production schedule processing to:
- maintain and execute daily batch schedules
- prepare and process adhoc requests as needed
- provide support for vendor interactions with PayServ
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated experience: SQL/PL-SQL
• Demonstrated experience: Procedural programming
• Demonstrated experience with Oracle’s PeopleSoft ERP systems
• Demonstrated experience with functional understanding of the PeopleSoft HCM
modules
• Demonstrated experience with ERP System upgrades
• Demonstrated experience with large volume payroll
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
• Demonstrated experience programming in an Integrated Development Environment
(IDE)
• Demonstrated experience in facilitating staff discussions in order to gather business
requirements, determine time estimates, negotiate goals, report project statuses
• Demonstrated ability to create business solutions that meet business requirements
and to be able to translate business requirements into technical specifications with
adherence to established programming standards and OSC internal controls
• Demonstrated ability of strong communication skills
