Minimum Qualifications EITHER 1) Reachable on the Civil Service eligible list (if you are on the eligible list for this title, you will automatically be canvassed for this position if your score is reachable for potential appointment); OR 2) Eligible for reassignment by virtue of having permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 2 Calculations (Grade 9); OR 3) Eligible for transfer under the provisions of Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law by virtue of having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title.
Duties Description Duties include the following but are not limited to :
The Office Assistant 2 (Calculations) (9) is responsible for performing difficult operations involving the gathering and input of data required in the calculation of a retirement allowance, death benefit or other member-related benefit; preparing estimates of retirement benefits payable under the various options at a specified future date; calculating actual benefits at the time of a member's retirement, death, or refund; checking service records to determine members' eligibility for benefits; reviewing employer reports and correspondence containing salary data for members and retirees; preparing routine correspondence for members and retirees and other parties; and assists with telephone inquiries. This position may also be deployed to other department sections depending on work priorities.
