Minimum Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
• Three or more years of experience with graphic design, digital experience preferred; or an associate’s degree or higher in interactive media, design, or visual arts
• Experience developing graphic content for social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Medium
• Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
• Detail oriented and organized, with the ability to complete assignments quickly and accurately
• Understanding of digital technologies and trends
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Professional manner with co-workers and clients
• General knowledge of content management systems, HTML, and other web technologies
• Mobile and responsive design experience a plus
Duties Description The Graphics Designer will create digital assets for the NY.Gov and Governor.NY.Gov websites, and maintain an organized inventory of all original graphics. This position involves a flexible work schedule and will require working some nights and weekends to complete priority assignments for emergency situations and upcoming events. Some travel to NYC may be required on occasion.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Create and design visually appealing modern digital assets in accordance with New York State branding and style guidelines. This may include website mockups, infographics, logos, Gifs, charts, PowerPoints, social media graphics, and resizing or cropping images.
• Ensure design work is precise, accurate, and adheres to all New York State branding guidelines.
• Follow creative design technologies and trends, in accordance with statewide guidelines.
• Provide creative support for other projects and assignments on an ad-hoc basis.
Additional Comments Approval to fill this position is pending. The physical work location is being determined, and may be in Albany or New York City; additional details will be discussed at time of interview.
