Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as a Payroll Examiner 2, Accountant Aide, Administrative Aide, Agency Program Aide, Business Document Specialist 3, Business Services Center Representative 2, Environmental Conservation Program Aide, Head Mail & Supply Clerk, Head Stores Clerk, Legal Assistant 1 and Trainee 2, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 Calculations, Office Assistant 3 Human Resources, Payroll Specialist 2, Secretary 2. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. Additional titles which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, http://www.cs.ny.gov/, search "GOT-IT."
Minimum Qualification’s for provisional appointment:
You must be a qualified employee of NYS and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
As a Payroll Assistant (SG-9), Payroll Examiner 1 (SG-12) or former title of Payroll Clerk 3(SG-14.
There is a tentative examination announcement date of April 28, 2017 for this title listed on the NYS Department of Civil Service website: www.cs.ny.gov. There is a tentative examination scheduled for July 15, 2017. You must sign up for this examination once it is announced in order to be eligible for a provisional appointment.
Duties Description This position will be in the Payroll Unit. Job duties include, but are not limited to: supervising; office coverage; processing retirement applications; and, processing retirement adjustments. This position requires processing various transactions in HRIS and PayServ: calculating Step 3 Grievance payments and security longevity payments; Time Entry transactions; running and following up on various reports; proofing direct deposits, tax information, and other general deductions in PayServ. Other duties include, attending Payroll User’s Group Meetings, reviewing various Payroll Bulletins, monitoring and answering questions in the payroll mailbox, answering questions by phone, e-mail, and employee visits. This positions requires corresponding with our Human Resources Office and the Office of the State Comptroller, including the NYS Retirement System.
