Minimum Qualifications Reachable on the current Civil Service list for this title, or one year of permanent competitive class service as a Senior Attorney. 52.6 transfers may be considered only if you have passed the New York State Bar exam.

Duties Description The incumbent, assigned to the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) Melville office, will be responsible for the following duties:
(1) Review underwriting files and electronic records of policies assigned to the Melville office to reconcile the amount of premium claimed due; (2) Communicate with the policyholder or representative to encourage payment of premium or resolution of objections without resort to litigation; (3) Review and evaluate the merits of a case, facilitating valid adjustments of contested premium charges and/or commencing legal action when warranted; (4) Interact with other NYSIF Departments regarding the billing and servicing of a policy; (5) Communicate with opposing counsel in contested litigation matters while still pursing justifiable resolution through appropriate adjustment and payment; (6) Engage in premium litigation through all phases of proceedings towards the final goals of Judgment, Enforcement and Collection; and (7) Responsible for responding to appeal requests, third party matters, loss transfer and 1A workers' compensation claims hearings and depositions.
