Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State. In addition, maintaining current registration as a CASAC is necessary for continued employment. Loss of CASAC registration will result in termination of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years’ experience conducting clinical research treatment related to mental health or substance abuse is preferred. Previous experience conducting guided therapy through the use of a treatment manual is highly desirable. Strong sensitivity to diverse populations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule are essential to the position. A Master’s Degree in a counseling-related profession is preferred.

Duties Description Position Summary:
1. Serves as a primary therapist for the Addictions Treatment Services (ATS) outpatient chemical dependence treatment program at the Research Institute on Addictions.
2. Serves as a member of the ATS multidisciplinary treatment team and participates in activities designed to enhance the overall quality of the ATS program.
3. Contributes to the implementation of research projects.
4. Supervises junior staff.
