Minimum Qualifications One year as an Office Assistant 1; or one year of permanent service in a clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher and candidate must have permanent appointment in a Office Assistant 2/Calculations classified position (or be eligible for transfer) or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service eligible list for Office Assistant 2/Calculations, Full-Time, Brockport location.
Duties Description Position Summary:
Works collaboratively as a strong contributing member of the Student Accounts & Accounting team. Executes federal, state and other financial aid disbursement processes, as well as various Tuition Waiver Programs. Performs Federal Title IV Financial Aid Recalculation Processes (R2T4), and serves as the initial “intake” for the NYS Tuition Residency and College Tuition Refund Committee. Executes all facets of Financial Aid Loan Declination processes, and updates/maintains departmental web pages.
Essential Duties:
•Executes Federal Title IV financial aid recalculation processes (R2T4).
•Calculates and executes various tuition waiver programs.
•Serves as initial point of resolution for escalated Excelsior scholarship issues.
•Serves as the departmental Excelsior scholarship “specialist”.
•Executes Federal Perkins Loan disbursement processes, including “returns".
•Executes Federal Nursing Loan(s) disbursement processes, including “returns”.
•Serves as the Initial “Intake” for the NYS Tuition Residency applications process.
•Serves as the Initial “Intake” for the College Tuition Refund Committee.
•Executes all facets of Financial Aid Loan declination processes.
•Advises and processes Study Abroad Program advance deposits.
•Verifies, executes and reconciles Study Abroad Program account adjustments.
•Approves and processes emergency loans; reconciles accounts.
•Updates/maintains departmental web pages.
•Performs all tasks associated with the office opening and closing practices.
•Performs Ellucian/Banner, Nelnet and other system testing.
•Provides professional and accurate services to student and family questions and concerns via phone, email and in-person.
•Accurately interprets and adheres to the policies of the office, the College, NYS and the federal government.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Performs detailed transactions and adheres to complex rules and regulations.
•Has professional bookkeeping and cash handling experience.
•Has professional experience with Banner student information system.
•Is proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word).
•Demonstrates excellence in professional customer service experience.
•Demonstrates leadership skills.
•Ability to work with diverse student population.
•Has excellent communication skills.
•Has professional experience in a Student Accounts or Accounting office.
Additional Comments
Hours are 8:15 am to 5:15 pm
