Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of practical experience in performing general construction or maintenance tasks. Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.
Duties Description Will preform maintenance and rehabilitation work on infrastructure, including buildings,dams,bridges,access roads,trails,boundary lines and Wildlife Management Areas. Must have a working knowledge of safety standards and procedures; ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to climb a ladder and work on heights from scaffolds and platforms; function as working supervisor in a crew of multiple workers performing manual labor and maintenance tasks; schedule work projects and make individual work assignments based on abilities of individual crew members; instruct crew members and answers questions concerning work procedures; observe work in progress and completed work to ensure adherence to instructions, guidelines and schedules; keep written records of work performed and materials and labor used.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must have a valid Class B CDL within 6 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
The anticipated end date of the position is 03/31/19. Work days and hours will be discussed at interview.
