A Bachelor’s or higher level degree in: Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Design Engineering; Environmental Resources Engineering; Environmental Systems Engineering; Water Resources Engineering or Forestry Engineering; Materials Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Paper Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Plastics Engineering; Aeronautical Engineering and Soil and Water Resources Engineering; Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the degrees listed above. **
**If you possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering Science, you must provide your transcript or documentation by the education institution that specifically states what the engineering concentration is;

Proof of successful completion of a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
If you are applying with proof of successful completion of the FE examination, you must also have one year of engineering experience in sanitary, public health or environmental engineering.

NOTE: Individuals appointed as an Engineer Trainee are required to complete a minimum of one year of successful performance as an Engineer Trainee and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Assistant Engineer(Envir)/Engineer Trainee 18/20

Job Duties:

The candidate will be involved with the development and implementation of regulations within the Petroleum Bulk Storage, Chemical Bulk Storage, Major Oil Storage Facilities, Federal Underground Storage Tanks and Liquefied Natural Gas Programs.

-Apply an understanding of science and engineering to develop and/or review regulations, guidance documents, identify appropriate industry standards and evaluate their use in implementing the regulations.
-Manage multiple projects while meeting project deadlines.
-Evaluate facilities for compliance with all applicable or relevant regulations, standards, and guidance and where necessary work with regional staff in bringing appropriate enforcement actions including overseeing the development and execution of work plans to bring a facility into compliance.
-Provide technical support and clear communication both verbally and in writing to management, colleagues, outside professionals, and the regulated public on the regulations, standards and guidance.

In addition, some travel will be required and the use of a respirator may be required during some field work.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including respirator, will be required. Travel and overtime may be required. Must successfully complete (or have completed) the 40 hour OSHA 1910.120 training course and all other required training. Must complete an annual Health and Safety Program including medical monitoring, fit testing, and 40 (or 8) hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
