Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for Provisional Appointment:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
as a Data Entry Machine Operator, Data Entry Machine Operator (Spanish Language), Keyboard Specialist 1, Keyboard Specialist 1 (Chinese Language), Keyboard Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 1 or Trainee 2, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Chinese Language) or Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Spanish Language).
Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 7 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 2, Office Assistant 2 (Calculations), Office Assistant 2 (Keyboarding), Office Assistant 2 (Stores/Mail), Secretary 1. Candidates may be required to demonstrate that they meet the minimum keyboarding proficiency test. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. Duties Description This position will serve as the primary receptionist at the Cortland sub-office and also provide assistance to the Natural Resources Supervisor and/or programs. Duties include: greet visitors, answer telephones, take and distribute messages and respond to standard inquiries as appropriate. Type correspondence, documents, records and other written material. Proofread and correct work. Use word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, database management, desktop publishing. Operate and maintain office equipment and resolve routine problems. Scan and fax necessary documents. Open, sort, and log in incoming mail. Maintain and order office supplies. Be part of a clerical backup system.
