Minimum Qualifications Position prefers 10+ years of investigative experience in a major police department or law enforcement agency. Familiarity with New York State laws and agencies is required. Experience in surveillance techniques and use of technical equipment used in law enforcement is required. Must have excellent interpersonal and report writing skills. Basic computer skills and experience with computerized case management systems is required. Familiarity with New York law and State agencies is required. Knowledge of law enforcement and other investigatory search engines and websites preferred. Must be willing to work unscheduled hours when necessary; some travel is required. Salary commensurate with experience.
Duties Description Investigators in the Office of the State Inspector General conduct investigations of alleged criminal wrong-doing, corruption, conflicts of interest, fraud or abuse in New York State agencies/entities which fall under the jurisdiction of the Office. Investigators work collaboratively with other investigators, auditors and attorneys to investigate matters and prepare written reports of the Inspector General’s findings. Duties include, but are not limited to, managing cases, surveillance, conducting interviews and preparing written reports. This position is in the exempt class; incumbents serve at the pleasure of the State Inspector General. The position operates out of the Albany office.
