Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
4 years of fulltime experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
Have at least 4 plus years of experience working in the carpentry/painting trades and the working knowledge of carpentry techniques. The ability to make repairs to equipment such as desks, cabinets and doors and the ability to frame, sheetrock, tape and paint. Knowledge of appropriate tools and materials needed to complete assigned tasks. Demonstrate knowledge of system layouts and designs.
Duties Description NATURE OF WORK & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Trades Generalist performs journeyman work in one trade, and skilled and semi-skilled level work in several other trades. Work with other tradesman in maintenance, repair, monitoring of HVAC systems. Diagnose, troubleshoot, HVAC equipment. Knowledge of servicing walk-in refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines is a plus. Other duties as assigned. You must pass competencies for this position.
• Will perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment, and electrical trades.
• Expected to work with considerable independence as is typical of a skilled tradesperson.
• Providing help with subordinate maintenance staff by giving instructions, and observing and inspecting work performed to ensure that instructions have been followed and that the quality of the work is satisfactory.
• Functions as a skilled worker in a primary trade and performs a variety of skilled and semiskilled activities in one or a combination of other related trades in response to maintenance program requirements.
