Duties Description The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Finger Lakes Region is seeking a candidate who will oversee office operations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assign, review, train, assist and evaluate the work of lower-level employees.
• Maintain schedules, seasonal payroll, and various clerical activities and responsibilities surrounding seasonal staff.
• Monitor and oversee fee collection, money banks, data entry, and auditing.
• Control parking access to and from park facilities during peak periods.
• Register campers, issue permits.
• Incumbent will also be called on to answer routine questions, phone calls, and handle complaints from park patrons.
• Incumbent assists with groundskeeping and cleaning the office and restrooms.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have the ability to follow written direction, as well as record and document required information.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and park patrons.
• The incumbent must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
• Weekend/holiday work will be required.
• Candidate must be able to explain park rules and regulations as well as process written information required to meet patron’s needs.
