Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gaining by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services may be substituted for the above experience on a year for year basis. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
Duties Description A trades generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair and installation, and construction activities.
This trades generalist position may include performing a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks in the mechanical, plumbing, building, motor equipment and electrical trades. This will include daily water testing, charging the water sources at the start of the season and turning it off at the end of the season. All tasks are to be constructed in a safe manner, with an injuries/illnesses reported immediately to the supervisor.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 60 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
